Tracy Coughlan Design, launched in 2008, is a full service design-build firm noted for its unique and personalized approach to residential and commercial design. Tracy’s unique talent for understanding how construction and design come together has successfully led to fifteen years of experience working with families across Boston to reimagine, renovate, and revitalize their space.
With thoroughness and care, Tracy works closely at every stage of the process to ensure a service and experience of the highest quality. Whether you are remodeling a home, reimagining your kitchen, or just need help updating your space, she pays special attention to light, color, flow, and design, creating concepts that reflect her clients' unique needs and style. Valuing long-lasting relationships, Tracy believes that the design process should always be a fun and inspiring partnership.
Tracy’s designs have been featured several times in both the Newton Historical House Tour and the Chatham Historical House Tour. Tracy also established Heartdwell, an organization that supported single mothers in bringing personality and comfort into the design of their home. Further expanding her reach and skills, Tracy has been designing and constructing homes in the Hudson Valley for the past 7 years through her company 10 Horse Custom Homes.
Tracy holds a degree from Pratt Institute in New York City. Beginning as an Art Director in a New York advertising firm, Tracy then relocated to California as a successful stylist, producing fashion shows, television commercials, and print advertising for national retailers and major strategic brands. Her career evolved again as she held a senior position within Levi Strauss & Co., heading up the Store Design and the Visual Merchandising Department. Tracy continues to collaborate with Levi’s, working on their showroom design, editors’ events, and pop-up presentations.

Paint consult – Painting a room(s) is the least expensive method to transforming your space and achieves the most dramatic results. Choosing colors and making a change in your space can be intimidating. While painters can be knowledgeable about colors they are not color experts. Painting consults run about 10-20% of your over all labor costs. The results are dramatic.
